The Session Skate Park at URSM
the park…
The Session Skate Park at College Church offers a wide variety ramps, consisting of pyramids, movable ramps, fun boxes, rails, vert ramps, along with an 8 foot half pipe. Rails and boxes are movable for each skater’s abilities and unique style. We also have music and fresh, ice cold water provided during every session.
We offer a place for students to come and enjoy themselves with the opportunity to get to know Christ and be a part of the Church in a very unique way. URSM Skate Ministry provides an outlet for those students who do not normally come to or interact with a church at all. Our desire is that the Session Skate Park can be a sanctuary for students to have fun skating and love God at the same time.

sessions*…
Spring/Summer Sessions (Typically April – August) - Wednesday – Friday 5:30-8:30pm
Fall/Winter Sessions (Typically September – November) - Wednesday – Friday 4:30-Dark
It is FREE to skate at our park, but you must fill out a waiver form. You can download the form here. For more information or questions about the park, contact Dustin Johnson (Skate Ministry Intern).
*Because our park is outdoors, our sessions can be very dependent on the weather and daylight. If you walk outside and it’s pouring rain, or there is an inch of snow on the ground – there’s a more than good chance that the park will be closed until it dries up.
a little history…
About 9 years ago, Kenny Wade, one of our former youth workers, saw a need and had a passion to start a skate ministry here at College Church. The dream was this: Instead of kicking skaters off our property, why don’t we create a place for skaters to come and feel welcomed by our church? This dream birthed what became “The Session.”
For several years quarter pipes, rails, fun boxes, and other elements were dragged out into our parking lot once a week for skaters to come and have some good, safe fun. This ministry didn’t start just to give skaters a place to skate. It had and still has the purpose of sharing the amazing message and hope of Jesus Christ.
In 2001, our youth ministry was invited by the Lois Palau Festival to help build a professional skate park – our work in exchange for half of the element – roughly 6000 square feet of skate park. Our students, a majority of them who had never stepped foot on a skateboard, saw the need and jumped on it. For 5 straight days, 12 hours a day, they sweat, bled, and swung hammers. After the festival ended, the portion of the park promised to us was delivered. Two years later, the Nampa Fire Department burned the house down that used to stand where the park is. 7500 square feet of asphalt was laid down, a fence was put up, and a skate park was created. From a parking lot to the only wood Skate Park in the area, the dream became a reality. Now, The Session Skate Park exists for the same reasons it began in the parking lot 9 years ago.
We are not just another skate park. We love students, we care about your life, we care about who you are and what you are doing. We want for you to feel safe, have fun, respect others, and ultimately encounter the love of Jesus Christ.
